A BIG SUCCESS:
The Enginsoft International Conference on CAE Technologies for Industry

In a time noted for worry and uncertainty about the national and international economies and in spite of the restrictions companies are subesequently placing on attendance at conferences, the 2010 EnginSoft International Conference on “CAE Technologies for Industry”, held in conjunction with the Italian ANSYS Users Conference, has been a great success. EnginSoft’s annual conference is one of the most significant events dealing with the current state of CAE technology as well as with the innovations shaping its future direction. This year’s event, which was held October 21 and 22 at the Garda Trade Fair Center in Brescia, was particularly stimulating and rich in content. Nearly 600 participants from industry and academia came together to listen and to actively participate in mutually profitable discussions on the benefits to be derived by use of Computer Aided Engineering technologies (CAE) and virtual prototyping and simulation, and how these methods can be used to speed up product development while at the same time improving quality. There was an exhibit section with 17 exhibitor organizations and 90 papers presented in 7 separate sessions and 30 papers presented in posters.



EnginSoft and ANSYS Italy together have welcomed with immense pleasure the attendees - simulation experts, both veterans and new users, professionals from many diverse parts of the worlds of industry and academia, researchers, developers, CAE software distributors and engineers from many sectors of engineering.

The Conference will be remembered as a pivotal event and a turning point for the simulation community. It was enriched by the valuable contributions and shared experiences of the participants. It was an ideal opportunity to discuss the most current applications and also the scientific and engineering disciplines founded on simulation adhering to the true sense of the conference motto:

In such a lively atmosphere, the speakers at the plenary session, who represented the some of the leading providers of simulation technology including ANSYS, Microsoft, ESTECO and MathWorks, captured the enthusiasm of the audience by describing the highly innovative growth and development that is coming in their products. In the parallel sessions, there were presentations of real-world applications using various software products for virtual simulation and describing the experiences of the users of the software in many industrial sectors: aerospace, automotive, oil and gas, naval, MCC, power and turbo machinery, energy, household appliances, etc. The participants could also directly see and experience the latest innovations in virtual experiments in the exhibition Demo Room adjacent to the sessions.

The conference has made very evident what was already known to users of CAE and simulation technology: that the use and application of advanced simulation techniques at the vanguard of the industrial and research sectors is fundamental for these reasons:

• Making full use of your own know-how and potential
• Acceleration and improvement of products and the product development process
• Saving of time and resources
• Gaining competitive advantage in a market that is rapidly evolving

As was the case in the previous conferences, the exhibit area around the conference served as a forum – a place to discuss applications and technological developments and to share experiences, and also to find new business partners.
